Babs Bulletin #1 - Time to Email Coaches

🔥 Quick Hits

The Battle of Ontario: The most exciting Leafs playoff series I remember growing up was always Toronto vs. Ottawa. While I hate the current playoff format, I love that we got this. It feels like playoff hockey.

Charging at the Women’s World Championships: Congrats to the American women—they played a great tournament—but man, IIHF refs stink.

OHL Playoffs: Still the best bang for your buck in hockey. $27 for a game? Can’t beat it. My tune on the OHL has shifted—players now have more open career paths, and I’m okay with them not being salaried, considering the opportunities on the table.

🧠 Player Tip of the Week

Spring Prep Starts Now

It’s springtime, which means more than just skating—it’s time to think seriously about your future. Whether you're aiming for junior hockey or you're already playing pro, this is when you have to dig in.

My biggest advice: target leagues and teams where your resume actually fits. Don’t waste time messaging coaches or GMs at levels you're not ready for—they probably won’t reply, and it leaves a weak first impression.

Focus on where you can make an impact now. If you dominate, the next level will take notice—and your first contact with them will be a positive one.

Be realistic, not pessimistic. There’s an opportunity out there—you just have to aim in the right direction.

🌟 Prospect Highlight Michael Brandsegg-Nygard 📍 Winger – Norway – 2024 Draft Pick

I’ve loved this kid for a while—said he was a steal before the draft, and I still believe that. He plays with pace, he's got the tools, and I think a lot of people are going to look back and wonder how he slipped as far as he did.
